Kate Simon

Kate Simon has worked on national newspapers and magazines for more than 30 years and is the former travel editor of the Independent on Sunday. These days she writes about travel for titles including The Guardian and National Geographic Traveller UK and also offers consultancy on travel content and PR through Traveltappers.co.uk. Kate is the co-author of two books, Slow Travel Cheshire (Bradt, 2018), the first modern guidebook to the county, and How To Pack For Any Trip (Lonely Planet, 2016).


Simone Kane

Simone Kane combines PR and content creation, specialising in travel. Her career in journalism spanned more than 25 years, working for a variety of national publications including The Independent on Sunday, National Geographic Traveller UK and various consumer and trade magazines, as well as on copywriting and website projects. Simone also co-founded La Luz, a magazine for English-speakers living in and visiting the Costa de la Luz in southern Spain.


Sarah Barrell

Sarah Barrell is a travel journalist and author with a special interest in Italy. A former travel editor at the Independent on Sunday, Sarah currently works as Associate Editor at National Geographic Traveller (UK), and writes regular travel stories for BBC Good Food, along with contributing travel stories to publications including The Telegraph, The Independent, The Guardian, and Lonely Planet publications. Jess Wood

Jess Wood is Fashion Features Director of Marie Claire, where she writes about fashion and designers – from mega-brands such as Dior to the hottest young design talents coming out of the Ukraine. During her decade at the magazine, she’s edited the biannual collections spin-off, Marie Claire Runway, and interviewed some of the industry’s most influential talents – personal highlights include Christopher Kane, Marc Jacobs and JW Anderson. In addition to writing about fashion, Jess reports live from the shows on Marie Claire’s social-media platforms and produces fashion videos about everything from Chanel couture to the behind-the-scenes story of how the V&A’s blockbuster Balenciaga exhibition came together. Lisa Gerard-Sharp

Lisa Gerard-Sharp is an award-winning travel-writer, editor, photographer and speaker with a special interest in Italy. She contributes to outlets ranging from The Telegraph, The Guardian and National Geographic Traveller to Italian guidebooks and online guides for National Geographic and Google. Yvonne Gordon

Yvonne Gordon is an award-winning travel writer whose work has been published in The Irish Independent, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, The Irish Times, The Boston Globe, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Washington Post, The Telegraph, Hemispheres, CARA magazine and Fodor’s Travel. She also writes travel guides and co-wrote the book DK Eyewitness Travel Backroads Ireland. Her awards include Travel Writer Of The Year at the Travel Extra Travel Journalist of the Year Awards 2016.

Pete Brown

Pete Brown is a British author, journalist, broadcaster and consultant specialising in food and drink, especially the fun parts like beer, pubs, cider, bacon rolls and fish and chips. Across nine books, his broad, fresh approach takes in social history, cultural commentary, travel writing, personal discovery and natural history. He writes for newspapers and magazines around the world and is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Food Programme. He was named British Beer Writer of the Year in 2009, 2012 and 2016, has won three Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards, and has been shortlisted twice for the Andre Simon Awards. Rachael Martin


Originally from the UK, Rachael Martin is a travel journalist, author and photographer who lives near Milan. She came to Italy more than 20 years ago, ate the food, absorbed the culture and ended up bilingual in the process. She writes about Italian travel, food and culture for Italia Magazine and Italy’s online English newspaper, The Local Italy.
